——A Letter to All Employees of the Group

Today, the company received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Wu Yan, an employee of the Cable Workshop, expressing her gratitude for the company’s meticulous care during the fight against the pandemic.

Wu Yan is a dual-employee of the company. Since November 24, she and her husband, Song Lihua, have been “stationed” at the factory. When she began to develop COVID-19 symptoms, she chose not to inform her elderly parents or children in order not to worry them. With two young children left alone at home without care, Wu Yan found herself battling illness while feeling anxious and helpless about her children’s situation. At that difficult moment, Project Office Director Liu Yanping told her: “Leave the children to me, don’t worry. Give me your contact details—I will take care of them and deliver supplies.”

As both Wu Yan and her husband are migrant employees with no relatives in Tangshan, Director Liu’s words made her truly feel the warmth and love of Huatong. Acting quickly, Director Liu purchased essential daily supplies and medicines and delivered them to the children, relieving Wu Yan of her deepest worries.

Stories like this happen at Huatong every day:

• Some employees voluntarily deliver water, medicine, and meals to colleagues in quarantine.
• Some take the risk of exposure to procure essential goods for others.
• Others, while fulfilling their own duties, take on additional responsibilities for disinfection and the distribution of daily necessities to fellow employees.

Meanwhile, company leadership had made careful, early preparations. The Procurement Department secured ample anti-pandemic supplies such as N95 masks, antigen kits, and disinfectants. At a time when medicines were in short supply nationwide, on December 9 the company distributed boxes of “Yinqiao Jiedu Tablets” (a traditional Chinese medicine for flu-like symptoms) to every employee—a timely act of care and relief. Due to logistics, other medicines will be distributed as they arrive. Importantly, the company has ensured that not only employees in Fengnan receive supplies, but also family members of employees working abroad. Medicines will be shipped overseas by sea and air so that every “Huatong person” is cared for.

At present, “38.5°C” seems to be the most common topic in social media circles. Many colleagues are unable to report to work due to illness, and we hope they rest and recover quickly so they can return to work in good health. For those remaining on duty at the company, please remain vigilant, minimize outings, and protect yourselves.
